The Gospel in a Nutshell
The Gospel in a nutshell is that we follow the example of Jesus’ life on earth because we have so much faith in God’s love through His sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, to live through the experience of God’s full wrath of death and rise again. We follow the life of Christ to show our love in return through our faith in God’s word.
The verse of yesterday came from Romans 5 and explains this concept. Verses 8-10 says that Christ’s death on the cross saves our soul, and verse 8 emphasizes that God commanded that Jesus shed His blood for us because God wanted to direct His love toward us.
This love from God is what we have faith in as verses 1-2 says. Verse 2 describes how our faith gives us access to this free gift and grace of God’s love to receive salvation and eternal life.
Romans 10:9 defines this faith in this greatest act of God’s love as leading us to proclaim Jesus as Lord of our life because the Bible says Lord, not Christ.
When we know how much God loves us because He made Jesus live through death to save us, we have faith to make Jesus our Lord. Like 1 John 4:19 says “We love him, because he first loved us.”
